Screen Charm refund and cancellation: it is $79 once
Screen Charm has no subscription to cancel. What its terms say about the $79 lifetime price, the 14-day refund and how to ask for one, the Apple Silicon requirement that caught one buyer, and how the one-off price compares.
There is nothing to cancel with Screen Charm, which is the answer most people searching for it want. This page says what its own terms and site state about the price and the refund, checked on 5 October 2026.
What it costs
Screen Charm's terms of service, last updated on 31 January 2026, say: "The lifetime deal costs $79.00 (USD)... you will have unlimited access to video export features with no recurring fees."
Its site adds that you can use it on up to 3 devices, that updates are free for life, and that there is no subscription and no renewal. The free tier records, and exporting is what the licence unlocks.
Cancelling
There is no subscription, so there is no cancel button and no renewal date to beat. If you are looking at a charge you do not recognise, it is not from Screen Charm's licence, which is a single payment.
The refund
Its terms offer a 14-day refund: you can request a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, no questions asked. You request it by emailing the address on its terms page. That is a person's inbox, not a billing system, so keep the date of purchase and write early.
Check your Mac first
Screen Charm runs only on Apple Silicon Macs, on macOS Sonoma 14.0 or later. A buyer on r/SideProject, in a thread where the founder introduced the app, wrote that they had bought it before even trying it and that their Mac was an older Intel model, so they could not use it. A reply in the thread said the refund had been made.

The same requirement applies to Prequel. Check About This Mac before you buy either.
How the one-off prices compare
| One-off price | Free to try | |
|---|---|---|
| Screen Charm | $79 | Free tier records, export needs the licence |
| Prequel | $29 | 7-day trial with the whole app |
A one-off price tells you less than the terms do. Screen Studio's lifetime licence is one year of updates is the case for reading what a licence includes. Screen Charm says free lifetime updates. Ask the same three questions of any buy-once recorder: does it renew, what happens to updates, and can the price change.
For the other tools in this family, how to cancel a screen recorder subscription lists where each one's button is, Screen Studio without a subscription covers the one that charges to export, and Tella has no free plan covers the one with a trial only. Prequel's one-off licence
Prequel's lifetime licence is $29 once. It is the whole app, with no watermark and no length cap, and it has nothing to renew and nothing to cancel. What it does not do is grow: it comes with 5 GB of shared recordings, each kept for three months. Exports to your own Mac are never counted and never expire. The pricing page also says the price might rise, and that today's price is not a promise about tomorrow. See pricing and what the trial includes.
Try the whole app for 7 days before you pay once.
Prequel needs an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 14 or later. Download Prequel for Mac and try it free for 7 days, with no watermark on anything you export. After that it is $9 a month or $29 once. See what it costs.
